# How to set up a wallet

To get started on Pit.Finance, you'll need is to set up a wallet that supports [Sei Blockchain](https://www.sei.io/).

Various wallets are merely tools to manage your crypto assets, which are securely stored on the blockchain. Much like checking your Gmail on an iPhone or Android phone, the ownership of your account remains unchanged. So, don't feel disadvantaged by using a different wallet. You can always import your wallet into ones that are compatible with Pit.Finance, like [MetaMask](https://metamask.io/), [Compass Wallet](https://compasswallet.io/).

Choose your favorite wallet to start with. If you are using the mobile app, it is highly recommended to use the built-in browser shipped with wallet, which works the best.

# Metamask

3. Click “Add to Chrome/Firefox/Edge/Brave”.
4. On the pop up, click “Add extension”.

After adding MetaMask Extension, MetaMask will automatically open. You can also make sure it's easily accessible in your toolbar by clicking the jigsaw icon in the top-right of the screen, and hitting the pin icon.

1. Open the App Store and hit the search button in the bottom right. Input MetaMask into the search bar.
2. Either click 'Get' or tap on the name of the app to see more details. Complete the usual App Store download confirmation process.
3. Once installed, open the app and follow the prompts to create your wallet.

### Step 3: Set Sei (pacific-1) network <a href="#step-3-set-ancient8-network" id="step-3-set-ancient8-network"></a>

There are two ways to connect MetaMask to a remote Sei proxy.

**Option 1:**

This is simplest way. However, this option only appears if you have ***no*** existing Sei network in your wallet. Otherwise, you will be asked to switch network instead.

You can choose to create a new wallet from Compass and be sure to store your keyphrase safely.

2. Locate the "Connect Wallet" button in the top-right corner of the page.

# Link your address (associate)

## Linking Sei and EVM / 0x Addresses

Each Sei address in Sei V2 has a corresponding EVM / 0x address, and vice versa. When you use Sei V2 for the first time, it is necessary to link these two addresses.

**Important Note:** You cannot decide which Sei and 0x addresses are linked together. Each Sei account has exactly one specific Sei address, and one specific EVM / 0x address, associated with it. They are like 2 sides of the same coin, and cannot be combined with other addresses.

1. Navigate to [https://app.sei.io/(opens in a new tab)](https://app.sei.io/) using your web browser.
2. On the Dashboard, look for the "Addresses" box.
3. Complete captcha, if required.
4. Click the "Link Addresses" button.

This will prompt you to sign a message with your wallet - it's not a transaction, and will not charge you any gas fees.

4. Once you have signed that message, your accounts will be linked!

### Advanced

Every account on Sei has a unique public key. In Sei V2, this public key translates into two different types of addresses:

* **EVM Address**: This address starts with `0x` and is used for EVM-based activities.
* **SEI Address**: This address starts with `sei` and is used for Sei-native activities.

Although these addresses appear different, they actually share the same underlying account. This means whatever action you take with one address will also affect the other.

If you deposit funds into your EVM address, you can access and use those same funds with your SEI address, and vice versa. They are linked together as one account, ensuring seamless integration between the EVM and SEI ecosystems.


# Vaults

Vaults in Pit Finance function like high-yield savings accounts for your crypto assets on the Sei Network. When you deposit assets into a Vault, they are automatically routed through smart contract-driven strategies that invest in various DeFi platforms such as liquidity pools, lending protocols, and staking opportunities. These strategies are designed to maximize returns by continuously optimizing and compounding your earnings.

### Vault Fee Structure

* **Deposit/Withdrawal Fee:** 0%
  * No fee is charged on deposits or withdrawals.
* **Management Fee:** 0%
  * This fee (currently at 0%), typically a flat rate charged on Vault deposits annually, is extracted by minting new shares of the Vault, slightly diluting the holdings of all participants. The fee is calculated based on the time elapsed since the previous harvest and applied at the next harvest.
* **Performance Fee:** 5% (on rewards)
  * A 5% fee is deducted from the yield earned each time a Vault harvests its strategy.


# Vault Tokens

### What Is a Vault Token?

Vault Tokens, or pTOKENs, are deposit receipts that represent your share in a Pit Finance Vault. When you deposit a token like SEI into a Vault, you receive a corresponding pTOKEN, such as pSEI, which reflects your stake in the pooled assets of that Vault.

As the Vault generates profits through its DeFi strategies, the value of your pTOKEN increases. For example, if you hold pSEI, and the SEI Vault earns rewards, the amount of underlying SEI your pSEI can be redeemed for grows. Over time, your pSEI becomes more valuable, giving you greater returns when you withdraw your assets.

In summary, Vault Tokens not only track your initial deposit but also capture the ongoing growth of the Vault, making them a key component of your investment in Pit Finance.

When a user withdraws liquidity from a Pit Vault, their corresponding pTOKEN will be burned. pTOKENs are standard Sei Network tokens, meaning they can be transferred and traded just like any other token on the Sei Network.


# Strategies Vα

### What is a Strategy in version Alpha (α)? <a href="#what-is-a-strategy" id="what-is-a-strategy"></a>

**Pit strategies** are modular smart contracts that manage the funds deposited into Vaults, optimizing their deployment across various DeFi opportunities such as lending/borrow pools, automated market makers (AMMs), liquid staking, and farming platforms.

* When a user deposits assets into a Vault, these funds are immediately transferred to the targeted DeFi platform, such as Yei, where they are supplied (lent) to start earning rewards.
* In addition to rewards from platforms like Yei, users also benefit from additional rewards provided by Pit Finance.
* The Vault automatically harvests rewards from Yei every 6 hours, recalculating the value of pTOKENs to reflect the newly accrued earnings.
* The reward will be re-invested to DeFi platform.

### What Is the APY of a Vault?

The Annual Percentage Yield (APY) of a Vault represents the projected annual return on your deposited assets. In Pit Finance, when you deposit a token like SEI, iSEI, USDC, or USDT, you receive a corresponding pTOKEN that reflects your share in the Vault.

The Vault employs advanced DeFi strategies to generate rewards, which are harvested every 6 hours. Each time rewards are harvested, the value of your pTOKENs is recalculated to include the newly earned rewards. While APY can fluctuate due to market conditions and the performance of the underlying strategies, the regular 6-hour harvesting and recalculation process ensure that your earnings are consistently optimized.


# Directional Vaults

Earn yield rewards based on market direction predictions.

Directional Vaults is a smart investment solution that allows you to earn profits based on your ability to predict market trends. By leveraging technology from the SOFA protocol, Pit.Finance preserves your principal and only uses the generated yield to invest in options strategies according to market trends.

### Available strategies:

#### 📈 Bull Trend

Designed for rising markets. Maximize upward trends with high profit potential when the asset price exceeds the upper limit.

#### 📉 Bear Trend

Suitable for declining markets. Protect capital and generate returns when the asset price falls below the lower limit.

* **Guaranteed base yield**: Your principal is preserved and generates passive income
* **Higher profit potential**: Only the generated yield is reinvested in trend-based options strategies, without touching your principal
* **Flexible customization**: Adjust parameters such as underlying asset (BTC/ETH), duration, deposit token, and target APY according to your needs
* **Capital protection**: Your principal is always kept safe, only the yield is used for trend strategies

1. **Choose underlying asset**: Decide to bet on BTC or ETH
2. **Predict market trend**: Select Bull Trend or Bear Trend

In Pit Finance, when you deposit a token like SEI, iSEI, USDC, or USDT, you receive a corresponding pTOKEN that reflects your share in the Vault.

The Vault employs sophisticated DeFi strategies to generate rewards, which are harvested every 6 hours. When the protocol harvests these rewards, the value of your pTOKEN is recalculated to reflect the accrued earnings. This automatic reinvestment process helps maximize your returns over the long term.

APY may vary with market conditions and the performance of the underlying DeFi strategies, but the 6-hourly harvesting and recalculation ensure that your earnings are consistently maximized.

Adding a pTOKEN to Your Wallet

1. Connect your wallet to [PIT Finance](https://pit.finance/).

4. Next to the pTOKEN, you'll see a "Wallet" icon.

How to Wrap/Unwrap SEI on Pit.Finance:

1. The system will generate an optimized strategy based on your selection, displaying:

3. Review your deposit details and potential returns

### Using Directional Vaults

#### Step 1: Connect Wallet and Configure Your Strategy

1. Connect your wallet by clicking the "Connect Wallet" button at the top of the page
2. Navigate to the Directional Vaults section on Pit.Finance
3. In the ‘Core mode’ tab ⇒ Under "Configure your Strategy," select what asset you are betting on (BTC or ETH)
4. Choose your market prediction:
   * Select "Bull Trend" if you believe the price of BTC/ETH will increase
   * Select "Bear Trend" if you believe the price of BTC/ETH will decrease
5. Set your strategy duration using the slider
6. Choose your deposit token (sUSDa or USDC)
7. Adjust your target APY using the slider

#### Step 2: Review the Optimizer Recommendation

After configuring your parameters, the platform will generate an optimized strategy with:

If you're not satisfied with the suggested strategy, you can click "Re-generate" to have the platform provide an alternative optimization with your configured parameters.

#### Step 3: Deposit and Confirm

1. Click the "Deposit" button to review your investment details
2. In the deposit confirmation window, you'll see:
   * Settlement date with exact time
   * Your potential yield
   * Current price information and strike levels (K1 and K2)
   * Potential profit scenarios:
     * If price is below lower strike at settlement
     * If price is above upper strike at settlement
     * If price is between the strikes at settlement
   * Base yield and additional RCH token rewards
3. Enter your deposit amount (or use Max)
4. Review the equivalent value conversion
5. Click "Deposit" to submit your transaction
6. Confirm the transaction in your wallet

   * Deposit amount and expiration date
   * Minimum and maximum possible payout

1. When a position expires, you'll see a "Claim" button appear

   * Final price at settlement
